Monica Velasco Bacarreza holds a master's degree in urban design and planning in regeneration projects from the Technical University of Delft, the Netherlands. Working in the field of urban design, urban food systems, and management for over 10 years, Monica developed extensive experience in integrated sustainable projects around the Netherlands, Nigeria, and Bolivia.

Her current role as studio coordinator at MVRDV is to support the acquisition process for urban projects that are meaningful, remarkable, inclusive, and sustainable. From proposal writing to foster relationships with partners. The projects developed in MVRDV range from healthy urbanism, housing, regional planning, masterplans, and sustainability worldwide.

The event series ‘Atmospheres’ is organized by Cátedra Jorge Montes, an architecture student association of the Universidad del Istmo in Guatemala that wants to enrich the student's experience and provide new spaces for the development of students and the growth of architecture.
